Together with local associations and institutions, Brixen Tourismus puts together a cultural programme that invites you to get to know South Tyrolean tradition and modern accents during the Christmas season.

At Brixen Christmas Market, a variety of South Tyrolean specialities for young and old are prepared over the fire. - Rorate Mass at Brixen Cathedral:
Every day at 6:30 am during Advent. - White Tower carillon:
Every day, as the Christmas Market opens, the White Tower carillon plays Ode to Joy. The piece was specially arranged by Brixen composer Manuela Kerer as a reminder of peaceful coexistence. - Music at the market and throughout the town
A varied programme of music brings the Christmas Market and Brixen’s historic centre to life. - Sunday shopping:
In Brixen, you can enjoy Christmas shopping on Sundays and public holidays too, particularly on 29 November and 6, 8, 13 and 20 December 2026. On Christmas Eve, 24 December, many shops have shorter opening hours.
DURING ADVENT
Themed guided tours take place on Wednesdays and Fridays at 3 pm at the Hofburg and on Thursdays and Fridays at 2:30 pm at Novacella Abbey.

Yes. Brixen’s Christmas season includes a changing cultural and family programme. It may feature concerts, choirs, storytelling, creative workshops, traditional processions and events at the city library or other locations in the old town. Check the current programme for dates and participation details.
It depends on the individual event. Many activities are freely accessible, while guided tours, workshops or events with limited capacity may require registration. Each event description gives the current conditions and, where necessary, a booking link.
Yes. Depending on the season, the Christmas programme also includes activities for children and families, such as creative workshops, stories, parades and other participatory events. Each event description states the recommended age group and whether registration is required.
The Christmas programme combines the market with musical, cultural and traditional events around the town. Some take place directly on Cathedral Square or in the old town, while others are held at different venues in Brixen. Current locations and times are listed in the daily programme.
